ECB publishes recast balance-sheet statistics regulation

The European Central Bank (ECB) published its Regulation ECB/2021/2 recasting the regulation on the reporting of balance-sheet items to cover credit institutions and monetary financial institutions (MFIs). This new regulation will enter into force on the fifth day following its publication in the Official Journal of the EU and shall apply from 26 June 2021, except for Art. 5, 8 and 9, which shall apply from 1 February 2022. The first reporting of monthly statistical information pursuant to Art. 5(1) and (2) shall start with data for January 2022 and the first reporting of quarterly statistical information pursuant to Art. 5(1) and (2) shall start with data for the first quarter of 2022.
