The European Central Bank (ECB) reiterated its determination to continue statistical data of good quality on a timely basis that is fit for purpose, in order to have at its disposal the necessary information to adjust as necessary any of its measures in response to the current COVID-19 crisis. However, national central banks and reporting agents are invited to find pragmatic solutions within the existing legal framework to keep data reporting manageable for reporting agents, while maintaining data quality. Measures to facilitate proportionality in statistical reporting could under the current circumstances include reducing less important quality checks or related interactions. Reporting agents are encouraged to contact their national central banks and the ECB, as appropriate, for assistance if they have difficulty meeting their reporting requirements
