The BaFin published a section on frequently asked questions (FAQs) with respect to the setting and application of the countercyclical capital buffer (CCyCB) on its website. Pursuant to section 10d of the German Banking Act (Kreditwesengesetz – KWG) and in accordance with the recommendation of the German Financial Stability Committee of 27 May 2019, the rate for the domestic CCyB is set at 0.25 per cent of the total risk exposure amount determined in accordance with Article 92(3) of the CRR, effective 1 July 2019 and to be applied from 1 July 2020 to calculate the institution-specific CCyB.
